Perfect weather teamed with great entertainment provided the ideal outing for the Whitby community on Saturday night.
The family-friendly music event at a Whitby park attracted more than 200 people as two local acoustic duos provided tunes to keep the revellers entertained, while children were kept busy with giant games, face painting and playground equipment.
Whitby Town community, sales and marketing manager Sherryn Rietdyk said providing free events within walking distance for residents and a short drive for others helped create healthy communities.
“We hold free community events monthly and we try different themes while keeping the favourites on rotation,” she said.
“At this event the Whitby Estate Residents Association undertook a Pink Ribbon fundraiser selling pink cupcakes and pink donuts.
“People really enjoyed the variety of music and the face painting was as always a huge hit with the kids.”
The next event will be a Christmas movie night on December 14.
