Faces caked with face paint and intricate costumes that would have taken weeks to create were on show in a parade last week at a Byford school.
Students at Marri Grove Primary got dressed up head to toe as their favourite characters for the annual Book Week parade held on August 31.
Deputy principal Melanie Loney said the annual tradition was an event all staff, students and parents looked forward to each year.
“Some students were quick to get out of their costumes and others stayed in character for the entire day,” she said.
“It was fantastic to see some children who are quite shy come out of themselves when in character.”
Ms Loney said this year’s theme of ‘Find Your Treasure’ allowed the staff and students more freedom in the types of costumes and books they wished to represent.
“Our year one and two classes completed a simultaneous story reading and we had a pop-up library for younger siblings with guest storyteller the Cat in the Hat,” she said.
“The students absolutely loved it.”
