Strong winds and heavy showers did very little to deter the 100-strong crowd who descended upon Jarrahdale Oval on Saturday for the inaugural Father’s Day Dad Olympics event.
Hosted by Jarrahdale Community Collective the event was jam packed full of old fashioned fun, which saw people of all ages take part in many traditional games such as the egg and spoon race, sack races, tug of war and wheelbarrow races.
Event organiser Rachael Anderson said everyone who attended had a positive attitude, big smiles and lots of laughs.
“Events like the Dad Olympics are a shining example of how a community can unite to provide a completely free morning of fun and games,” she said.
“The face painting was a huge hit and the overall feedback was that despite the weather deterring some people it was a resounding success.”
Other highlights included the oversized games which were donated by the Mundijong Library, a demonstration from the Jarrahdale Volunteer Fire Brigade and a free sausage sizzle that filled plenty of hungry stomachs.
A trophy made by the Serpentine Jarrahdale Men’s Shed was awarded to the Anderson family for their efforts on the day.
