A second-hand book shop, a car wash, fresh fairy floss and a raffle for a 2019 Fremantle Dockers signed football raised more than $1500 for charity last week at a school carnival.
Serpentine Primary year six student leaders organised the event, which saw the school community come together to raise money for the students’ chosen charity Starlight Foundation.
Associate principal Kelly Forder said the staff couldn’t believe how much was raised from each of the student-run stalls.
“The students, staff and parents loved the community feel of the event and parents were proud of the work all students had put into their stall,” she said.
“Special thanks to the Fremantle Dockers and our sports teacher Ebony Dowson for the donations for the raffle, all the families who donated things to each stall, all the teachers and students for all their efforts and the P and C for having the bouncy slide, all which made the day a huge success.”
The carnival was followed by a picnic lunch and a whole school colour run, which raised money for the school’s infrastructure.
