A new location has worked wonders for this year’s Byford Carols with close to 1000 people turning up for the annual festivities.
The carols event, which was previously held at Marri Grove Primary, attracted attendees from across the shire and beyond as children of all ages enjoyed waving their electronic candles and a visit from Santa himself.
Byford Carols committee member Colleen Rankin said this year’s event attracted more people than ever before.
“I feel the Briggs Park venue worked well for the event and the various choirs from all the churches and community groups all sang well and did us proud,” she said.
The event featured performances from the Heritage Country Choir and the Melville Air Force Association Band and included a free sausage sizzle and free candles.
All of the younger audience members received a free book about the story of Christmas and a bag of lollies from Santa, who came to the event in the Byford Volunteer Fire Brigade truck.
